It’s been an interesting month for the senior section, with the 1st XV having a mixed month, going down to West Bridgford and Peterborough away from home, whilst also suffering a defeat to Old Northamptonians at home. The month started with a positive result, a 40 point win against Peterborough Lions at home.
Putting all the results aside, it’s been awesome to see 9 first XV debuts over the last 4 weeks, plenty of positive rugby and plenty of areas to work on. Special mention must be made to Guy Want who has scored 5 tries in his first 5 games of the season. The 1st team is looking forward to getting back to consistent winning ways with Towcester at home and Bedford away in coming weeks.
The 2s and 3s section have showed plenty of promise with young players coming through and stepping up, older players putting in shifts and getting the league campaign under way. Highlight of the month was having 4 teams out over the weekend, with the 2s and 3s both playing away at Aylestone Athletic, winning and drawing respectively.
Since then numbers have sadly been a little inconsistent, having to unfortunately “cry-off” from merit fixtures. It would be fantastic to have 3 senior teams out every week over the run-in through to Christmas. With the 2s and 3s having many merit fixtures and some local old school friendlies to compete in, if you haven’t been down to the club yet- come and get involved! Bring a friend, get in touch with old players and let’s get the senior section back smashing it like we know we can.
Paul has kindly started flaying on food on Thursday after training which has gone down fantastically in the last few weeks. We look forward to next month’s set of fixtures, seeing many faces at training and in the bar after the matches.
