Second XV still flying high!!

October started with a bang for the Wyggs 2nd XV, beating Anstey at Oval Park 42-22. We were able to put a strong side out, as it was Callum Corley’s 30th, the team was boosted by several Wyggs lads coming back to Leicester and putting themselves forward for a bit of a reunion of the Super 2s! Callum, Ewan and Patrick Corley all played their part in the game.

The following week we travelled away to Hinckley who were top of the league and again we had a strong side out. We held our own in the first half with us being a couple of points down at half time, then made a few changes after 50 minutes, bringing on some strong forwards from the bench. The scrum was then very dominant and the backs also started to put more pressure on the opposition, with the Wyggs coming away with a 22-25 victory, putting us top of the league.

The following week we travelled away to play Stoneygate, where our confidence may have got the better of us. This, coupled with the fact that Gate had several players returning due to the cricket season ending, resulted in us taking a beating and we lost 67-14.

In our last game of October we played Market Bosworth away, putting up a good fight for most of the game, but Market Bosworth took the spoils in the end with a 27-12 win.

Despite our mixed bag of results, we’re still doing well in the league, sitting in the top 3!
