Jon Lowdon comes to the Wyggs with some big boots to fill after Billy Blair stepped down at the end of last season. The search for a new coach started in March and after meeting with a few candidates Jon seemed the right person for the job to take the club forward.
Jon said “When the opportunity came about to work with such an exciting group of players who are keen to develop, it was an easy decision to join the coaching team at Oadby. The club are very well respected in the Midlands and performed really well last year to finish third in a highly competitive league. Our challenge is to build upon this and make sure that we are performing to a high standard consistently. I have a strong desire to develop a brand of rugby that can be reproduced throughout the adult and junior sections, thus allowing a clear pathway from participation, progression to performance.
Dale Ager commented “We sat down with a few different options but Jon seemed to have the same desire and passion to succeed as myself and the club. Having known Jon for a number of years he’s got a good rugby pedigree, we played together at Coventry RFC and Leicester Lions, he’s an intelligent player and understands the game very well. I’m enjoying working alongside him and excited for the coming season trying to build on last seasons success.”
We hope you can join us in welcoming Jon into the club and wish him well for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
